SPARKLERS
CHEERLEADING - SEASON FIVE |
|

VOLUNTEER
COACHES NEEDED
The
Altamonte Sparklers are a group of more than 50
male and female cheerleaders with special needs
who have been training and competing for over four
years. Volunteer Coaches are needed to help run
our upcoming season.
No
cheerleading experience necessary but is
preferred. Volunteers help choreograph, teach, and
perform dance routines with the athletes.
Volunteering only requires about 2-3 hours a week.
Volunteers need to be ages 16 and up and community
service hours are happily
granted.
First
Coaches Meeting
Sunday,
August 9, 2009 at 3pm at Eastmonte Park,
830
Magnolia Drive, Altamonte
Springs, Fl 32701.
We
will continue to meet on some of the following
Sundays to prepare. Athlete practices officially
begin on Sunday, October 11, between 3-5:30pm, and
last until early April
2010.

CHEERLEADING REGISTRATION |

SUNDAY,
SEPTEMBER 27, 2009 - Space is limited
Season
Five Registration will be held on Sunday,
September 27, 2009. Exact time and location will
be available soon, but it will most likely be in
the afternoon around 3pm. It is important for
parents and athletes to attend the registration
day. Save the date and keep
an eye out for details.
Practices
will begin on Sunday, October 11, 2009 until April
of 2010. Athletes range in ages, beginning at age
6 up to age 60. They are divided into 3 different
performance squads and each group prepares for
local competitions, performances, parades, and
other community events.

week workshop coming in September
2009!
This
12-week workshop will be taught by a USA Dance
instructor. Students from USA Dance will be
volunteering their time as dance partners for our
participants. The goal is to introduce
participants to 5 different dances and end the
workshop with a Family
Showcase. Registration:

August 18- Monday August 31. Register by phone or
email. Payment can be made by cash, check,

meet the 3rd & 4th Wednesday of each month to
exercise & prepare for performances at
Westmonte Park from
6:30-7:30pm. Cost:
$1.00/person.

|

Every
Monday excluding
holidays
Practice
is held every Monday, excluding holidays, from
3-5pm at the Altamonte AMF Lanes. Cost is
$1.75/game, which includes shoe rental.
Scores are recorded throughout the
year and trophies are awarded at the Banquet in
June announcing each participant's high
score.

SPECIAL
OLYMPICS BOWLING COUNTY
GAMES County
Games
will be held on Monday, August 17, 2009. The
competition will begin at 3pm SHARP at the AMF
Lanes in Altamonte. This first competition of the
season will include over 70 bowlers from both
Altamonte Lanes and Casselberry
Lanes.

2009
SUMMER CAMP CONCLUDES |
|
|
Thank
you to all the campers
and volunteers!
This
year's camp has reached an all time high with 50
campers and over 20 volunteers.
The
final month of camp was full of fun and crazy
activities including: an arts & crafts
festival, lazer tag, ice cream parties
and pancakes for lunch. We also enjoyed our
special guests, including Altamonte Springs
Park Ranger - Steve
McCourt, The Sanford River
Rats Baseball Team, and even SANTA, who came
to join us for Christmas in
July!
